As founder and principal of Dawood, Bony R. Dawood, PE, takes a highly active role in the overall project management and all contract administration functions of the firm's transportation, intermodal, municipal, and facilities project. Mr. Dawood is responsible for the strategic direction of the company, identifying and employing new technology, providing and enhancing service areas, and developing personnel to meet new engineering challenges. His experience includes major public works projects, planning, and land development, across Pennsylvania as well as in other states.

M. Sheikh "M.S." Dawood, PE, has over 40 years of geotechnical engineering experience as a project manager on projects throughout the world. His diverse experience benefits each project by allowing him to draw from different designs and structures. He has specific expertise in the areas of materials investigations for analysis, recommendation, and foundation design. Mr. Dawood has served as a soils and construction materials expert in statewide projects in Pennsylvania and in six foreign countries. His solutions have been utilized in multi-million dollar roadway, bridge, and development projects.

Mark E. Gaines, PE Vice President - Highway Engineering
Mark E. Gaines, PE, has 23 years of progressive responsibility in design management services and as a design engineer on projects for PennDOT, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and municipal governments. His two decades of experience in highway design have included particularly challenging projects, such as the US. Route 219 Meyersdale Bypass, the Pennsylvania Quality Initiative project design winner and National Quality Initiative Achievement Award finalist; design-build projects over the Pennsylvania Turnpike; and context-sensitive design solutions for other high-profile projects. He has designed and managed bridge reconstruction projects; roadway widening and rehabilitation contracts; intersection improvements; and safety, mobility, and congestion management initiatives. Mr. Gaines has been responsible for preliminary and final design processes, including design field view plans, erosion and sedimentation control plans, right-of-way plans, traffic control plans, utility coordination, specifications, and cost estimates, along with assuring public involvement throughout design and consultation services during project construction.

Thomas C. Rowader, PE Vice President - Structural Engineering
Thomas C. Rowader, PE, provides over 21 years of diverse experience in engineering design and project management. He has directed the design of highway and bridge improvement projects, including bridge replacements, covered bridge rehabilitations, and a Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission toll plaza modification project. Mr. Rowader is experienced in the structural design of concrete, steel, and timber bridges; long-span steel trusses; and retaining walls. He is trained in seismic design of highway structures and in PennDOT bridge inspection requirements. Previous experience includes large concrete structure modifications, including the structural and flotation analysis of 20 stormwater and sanitary pumping stations for the US Army Corps of Engineers.

Ronald A. Carrola, PE Vice President - Pittsburgh Office
Ronald A. Carrola, PE, brings over 18 years of experience in design, construction management, proposal development, and marketing. He has a proven ability to manage projects and staff, solve complex technical problems, apply his abilities and experience to a wide range of projects, and provide a high level of customer service. Mr. Carrola is Regional Manager of Dawood's Pittsburgh office. His past experience has included PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission projects and recent project experience includes serving as the principal design engineer on the rehabilitation of a four-span continuous, multi-girder bridge with a total span of 372 feet.

As Vice President of Land Development for Dawood, Tony H. Dawood is responsible for the management, staffing and business operations for the Land Development sector of the firm. He has over 25 years of progressive experience including planning, zoning and coordination services to local, regional and state government agencies. He is responsible for the land development services in the Carlisle Regional Office, from proposal preparation through conceptual design to project completion. Mr. Dawood has a solid record of professional communication between parties in all aspects of the design, review, and construction process.

Ronald E. Stephens, PMP, PE, PLS
Vice President, Land Development and Planning
Mr. Ronald E. Stephens, PMP, PE, PLS, has over 30 years of progressive responsibility in engineering design. He is responsible for the land development and municipal services in the Enola office, from proposal preparation through conceptual design to project completion. He has a solid record of professional communication between parties in all aspects of the design, review, and construction process. Mr. Stephens is knowledgeable about and experienced in dealing with zoning and planning commissions. His experience includes work in residential, commercial, retail, and municipal facilities.
Mr. Stephens' extensive land development experience includes design-related and field-related inspections as well as coordination of all site utilities (water, sewer, gas, electric, telephone, etc.). He has successfully marketed land development services, having managed a wide variety of projects. Mr. Stephens has served as client liaison and made numerous presentations to clients and regulatory agencies. His innovative designs have provided functional, aesthetically-pleasing, and environmentally-sound solutions to many projects.

Thomas J. Imholte, PE Vice President - Geotechnical Services
Thomas J. Imholte, PE, a graduate geotechnical engineer, has worked on numerous large-scale transportation-related design projects overseeing the work of a team of several engineers and geologists within the Geotechnical Engineering Division. He is experienced in a variety of foundation designs and soil/rock characterization and analysis. His foundation design experience includes spread footings; mat foundations; steel and concrete piles; and drilled shafts for roadway, bridge, and building projects. His soil and rock characterization and analysis experience includes fill and cut slope stability, reinforced slope designs, scour evaluations, geophysical data interpretation, in-situ soil testing, and evaluation of Karst terrain.

Vincent J. Paparella, PLS Director of Surveying Services
Vincent J. Paparella, PLS, oversees the surveying staff working out of our corporate headquarters and Western Pennsylvania offices. He has served as the project manager on assignments in both private sector and public works contracts. This includes projects for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and Pennsylvania's Departments of Conservation and Natural Resources and Environmental Protection. In the recent past, Mr. Paparella has worked on several rail projects, including those for Amtrak: the Burd Street Bridge replacement project in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and a future Amtrak station to be located at Harrisburg International Airport. He managed Dawood's Surveying Services included in the CAT (Capitol Area Transit) Corridor One rail passenger service multimodal initiative in Cumberland and Dauphin Counties.
